The chain, week by week
Columns are game-weeks within a season (regular season through the Super Bowl) — not calendar weeks, so lengths vary a little by era. A small dot means the holder played that week — hover for the score. Playoff columns are labeled WC / DIV / CHAMP / SB, straight through with no gap for the off week before the Super Bowl. An offseason held is a season a team carried the belt into the offseason — a Super Bowl offseason if that team also won that year's actual Super Bowl, a stolen offseason if they held the belt into the offseason without playing in (or winning) it, having taken it during the season and never given the real champion a shot to reclaim it.
